Symptoms

  • Illumination of the fault warning lamp (Check Engine)
  • Reduced engine power

  • Inability to activate DPF regeneration mode (if applicable)

Causes

  • Faulty exhaust gas temperature sensor (EGT Sensor 6)
  • Open or short circuit in the wiring to the sensor
  • Poor electrical connection (oxidation, corrosion) at the sensor connector
  • Damage or contamination of the sensor itself by soot or carbon deposits
  • Engine control unit (ECU) internal fault

How to Fix

  1. Conduct a visual inspection of the sensor and its wiring for mechanical damage and corrosion.
  2. Check the resistance and reference voltage of the sensor by referring to the manufacturer's specifications
  3. Clean the electrical contacts of the sensor connector
  4. Replace the faulty exhaust gas temperature sensor
  5. If the sensor and wiring are ok, perform ECU diagnostics
