Symptoms

• The ABS indicator on the dashboard is on
• Disabling the ABS system
• Incorrect operation of the stabilization system (if any)
• Possible false alarms of the ESP system

Causes

• Wheel speed sensor malfunction
• Open or shorted sensor wiring harness
• Contamination or damage to the ring gear on the hub
• Poor contact in the sensor connector
• ABS control unit malfunction

How to Fix

1. Visually check the sensor and its connector for damage
2. Clean the surface of the sensor and the ring gear from dirt
3. Check the sensor resistance (usually 800-2000 Ohm)
4. Check the integrity of the sensor wiring harness
5. Check the gap between the sensor and the ring gear
6. If necessary, replace the wheel speed sensor
7. Reset the error and check the operation of the ABS system
