Symptoms

  • TCS light or slip indicator is on
  • Disabling the traction control system
  • Wheel slip on slippery roads without TCS intervention
  • Possible ESP system deactivation
  • Extraneous noise during operation of the ABS valve body

Causes

  • ABS/TCS pump motor malfunction
  • Open or short circuit in the motor power supply circuit
  • Oxidation or damage to the motor connector
  • Pump motor relay fault
  • Internal malfunction of the ABS/TCS control unit

How to Fix

  1. Read codes from the ABS/TCS control unit using a scanner
  2. Check TCS motor circuit fuse and relay
  3. Measure the supply voltage at the motor connector
  4. Check the integrity of the wiring and the condition of the connectors
  5. Measure the resistance of the motor windings (if available)
  6. Replace the ABS/TCS pump unit if the engine malfunction is confirmed
