Causes

  • Faulty exhaust valve control solenoid
  • Short circuit in solenoid wiring
  • Broken or damaged wires
  • Faulty solenoid connector
  • Dirty or clogged solenoid
  • Engine ECU malfunction
  • Low engine oil pressure

How to Fix

  1. Connect the OBD scanner and read all error codes
  2. Check the level and quality of engine oil
  3. Visually inspect the solenoid wiring for damage.
  4. Check the solenoid supply voltage with a multimeter
  5. Measure the solenoid resistance (should be within specification)
  6. Clean the solenoid connectors from oxidation and dirt.
  7. Replace exhaust valve control solenoid if necessary
  8. Check and, if necessary, repair wiring
  9. Clear error codes and test drive
