Symptoms

  • Unstable or unpredictable cruise control operation
  • Check Engine Light Illuminates
  • Cruise control sometimes works, sometimes not
  • Incorrect response to pressing control buttons
  • Spontaneous change in system behavior

Causes

  • Wear of the contact group of the control unit button with a change in resistance
  • Moisture or dirt getting into the steering wheel button block
  • Partial oxidation of contacts in a resistive circuit
  • Violation of the integrity of the steering wheel cable (partial break)
  • Cruise control module malfunction

How to Fix

  1. Connect the scanner and check the live data of the input signals when pressing each button
  2. Measure the resistance of the button block with a multimeter and compare with the norm according to the diagram
  3. Inspect the button block for traces of moisture, oxidation or mechanical damage
  4. Check the steering wheel cable for integrity
  5. Clean the connector contacts with contact cleaning spray.
  6. If necessary, replace the steering wheel button block
