Symptoms

• SRS or airbag indicator is on
• The check engine light may also be on
• Possible violation of security algorithms
• Zero or very low voltage on signal wire

Causes

• Signal wire shorted to ground
• Internal fault in the output stage of the SRS module
• Damage to the insulation of the wire with contact to the body
• Moisture entering the signal circuit connector
• Receiving ECU malfunction (incorrect line load)

How to Fix

1. ATTENTION: disconnect the battery, wait 10+ minutes before working with SRS
2. Read codes from SRS module
3. Disconnect the connector and measure the resistance of the signal wire to ground - when shorted it will be close to zero
4. Find and eliminate the short circuit (inspect the wiring harness)
5. Check the output signal of the SRS module after troubleshooting
6. Work with SRS should only be carried out by an authorized service center
