Symptoms
- Check Engine light comes on
- The engine does not start or is difficult to start
- Unstable idle and jerking when driving
- Dips when pressing hard on the gas
- Engine stalls under load
Causes
- Fuel pump control module (FPCM) internal malfunction
- Lost communication between ECU and FPCM
- FPCM module power or ground fault
- Damage to the wiring between the ECU and FPCM
- Malfunction of the fuel pump itself (load on the module)
How to Fix
- Check the fuel pressure with a pressure gauge
- Check FPCM power supply and ground
- Inspect the wiring and connectors between the ECU and FPCM
- Check for U-codes (communication errors) in the ECU memory
- Diagnose the FPCM module with a specialized scanner
- If the malfunction is confirmed, replace the FPCM module
