Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light
  • Engine overheating when the air conditioner is on
  • The second fan does not turn on
  • Reduced air conditioner efficiency
  • Increased engine temperature in traffic jams

Causes

  • Short circuit of the control wire of the second fan to ground
  • Second cooling fan relay malfunction
  • Broken or damaged wiring
  • Second fan motor malfunction
  • Internal ECU fault

How to Fix

  1. Read OBD-II codes
  2. Determine the location of the second cooling fan
  3. Measure the voltage in the fan control circuit 2
  4. Check the second fan relay and its connector
  5. Check fan motor (direct power supply)
  6. If the circuit is working properly - ECU diagnostics
