Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Is On
- Unstable engine operation under load
- Dips when pressing the gas pedal sharply
- Difficulty starting the engine
- Reduced engine power and thrust
Causes
- Fuel pump control module (FPCM) internal malfunction
- Reduced fuel pump performance
- Problems with FPCM power or ground
- Clogged fuel filter (increased load on the pump)
- Faulty wiring between FPCM and fuel pump
How to Fix
- Read all error codes - special attention to the codes of the FPCM itself
- Check the fuel pressure in the system (for the norm, see the manual)
- Inspect the FPCM power and ground circuit, check the voltage and continuity of the circuits
- Replace the fuel filter if it has not been changed for a long time
- Diagnose FPCM with a factory scanner, replace if necessary
- Reset codes, test drive to check
