Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Unstable engine operation under load
  • Dips when pressing the gas pedal sharply
  • Difficulty starting the engine
  • Reduced engine power and thrust

Causes

  • Fuel pump control module (FPCM) internal malfunction
  • Reduced fuel pump performance
  • Problems with FPCM power or ground
  • Clogged fuel filter (increased load on the pump)
  • Faulty wiring between FPCM and fuel pump

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes - special attention to the codes of the FPCM itself
  2. Check the fuel pressure in the system (for the norm, see the manual)
  3. Inspect the FPCM power and ground circuit, check the voltage and continuity of the circuits
  4. Replace the fuel filter if it has not been changed for a long time
  5. Diagnose FPCM with a factory scanner, replace if necessary
  6. Reset codes, test drive to check
