Sensor Reference Voltage E Circuit/Open

Severity
🔴 High
Can you drive?
Yes, but get it checked soon
Approx. repair cost
$17–889 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light with Multiple Sensor Error Codes
  • Unstable engine operation
  • Incorrect readings from MAP, TPS or other sensors
  • Engine transition to emergency mode
  • Deterioration of acceleration dynamics

Causes

  • Open circuit 5 V reference wire E
  • Short circuit in the reference voltage circuit to ground
  • Malfunction of one of the sensors on circuit E, causing an open circuit
  • Corrosion of wiring connectors
  • Internal ECU fault

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes - with P06D2 there are usually additional sensor codes present
  2. Define a list of sensors connected to the reference voltage circuit E
  3. Check the 5 V voltage at the sensor connectors with the ignition on
  4. Disconnect sensors one at a time to detect a short circuit in the circuit
  5. Check the integrity of the wiring from the ECU to each sensor
  6. If the wiring is in good condition, diagnose the ECU.
