Symptoms

Causes

  • Valve wiring short circuit to power
  • Damaged or corroded connectors
  • Fuel shut-off valve malfunction
  • Break in the ground wire of the circuit
  • Engine control unit malfunction
  • Wiring harness damage
  • Moisture getting into electrical connections

How to Fix

  1. Connect the OBD scanner and read all error codes
  2. Check engine management system fuses
  3. Visually inspect the wiring of the fuel shut-off valve
  4. Measure the voltage at the valve connector with a multimeter
  5. Check valve control circuit resistance
  6. Test the fuel shut-off valve on a bench
  7. Check the quality of contacts in the connectors
  8. If necessary, replace damaged wiring
  9. Replace faulty fuel shut-off valve
  10. Clear error codes and test drive
