- Black smoke from the exhaust pipe
- Whistling or unusual noises from the turbine
- Check Engine Light Illuminates
- Jerks when accelerating
Causes
- Bypass valve actuator malfunction
- Damage to the wiring to the actuator
- Oxidation or corrosion of connectors
- Bypass valve stuck
- Rupture of vacuum hoses (for pneumatic systems)
- Valve position sensor malfunction
- Valve contaminated with carbon or oil
- Valve mechanism wear
How to Fix
- Connect a diagnostic scanner and read all error codes
- Check the integrity of the wiring to the bypass valve actuator
- Inspect connectors for corrosion and oxidation
