Symptoms

• Significant reduction in engine power
• Check Engine Light Is On
• Increased fuel consumption
• Unstable idling
• Black or white smoke from the exhaust pipe
• Whistling sounds from the turbine

Causes

• Broken wiring to the turbine actuator
• Boost actuator malfunction
• Damage to connectors in the control circuit
• Short circuit in wiring
• Engine control unit malfunction
• Mechanical jamming of the actuator
• Contact corrosion

How to Fix

1. Read error codes with a diagnostic scanner
2. Check the integrity of the wiring to the turbine actuator
3. Inspect connectors for corrosion and damage
4. Measure the actuator resistance with a multimeter
5. Check the supply voltage in the control circuit
6. If necessary, replace damaged wiring
7. Replace faulty turbine actuator
8. Clear error codes and test drive
9. Recheck the system with a scanner
