Symptoms

  • Reduced engine power
  • Poor response to pressing the gas pedal
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Black or blue smoke from the exhaust pipe
  • Unstable idle speed
  • Activating Limp Mode (emergency mode)
  • Whistling sounds from the turbocharger area

Causes

  • Broken or damaged wiring to the turbine actuator
  • Short circuit in control circuit to ground
  • Variable geometry turbine actuator malfunction
  • Oxidation or corrosion of connectors
  • Boost pressure control valve malfunction
  • Problems with the engine control unit
  • Mechanical jamming of the turbine actuator
  • Violation of the tightness of vacuum lines

How to Fix

  1. Connect a diagnostic scanner and read all error codes
  2. Check the condition of the connectors and wiring to the turbine actuator
  3. Measure the actuator resistance according to technical documentation
  4. Check the supply voltage in the actuator control circuit
  5. Inspect vacuum hoses for damage and leaks
  6. Check the performance of the actuator using diagnostic equipment
  7. If necessary, replace damaged wiring or connectors
  8. Replace faulty turbine actuator
  9. Clear error codes and test drive
  10. Recheck the system for errors
