Symptoms

Causes

  • Open or short circuit in boost control circuit wiring
  • Turbocharger actuator malfunction
  • Damage to connectors or contacts
  • Electronic boost control valve malfunction
  • Problems with the engine control unit (ECU)
  • Contact corrosion in electrical connections
  • Mechanical damage to wiring

How to Fix

  1. Connect a diagnostic scanner and read all error codes
  2. Check the voltage in the boost control circuit using a multimeter
  3. Visually inspect the wiring for damage, abrasions or corrosion.
  4. Check the integrity of the connectors and contacts of the turbocharger actuator
  5. Measure the actuator resistance according to technical documentation
  6. If necessary, replace damaged wiring or connectors
  7. Replace faulty actuator or boost control valve
  8. Clear error codes and test drive to see if the problem is resolved
