Symptoms

• Unstable engine idling
• Reduced engine power
• Increased fuel consumption
• Black smoke from the exhaust pipe
• Difficulty starting the engine
• Check Engine Light Is On

Causes

• IAT2 air temperature sensor malfunction
• Open or short circuit in sensor wiring
• Oxidation or corrosion of the sensor connector
• Sensor contamination with oil or carbon deposits
• Engine ECU malfunction
• Air leaks in the intake system

How to Fix

1. Read error codes and analyze data in real time
2. Visually inspect the IAT2 sensor and its wiring
3. Check the resistance of the sensor with a multimeter (should change when heated)
4. Clean the sensor from contamination with a special cleaner.
5. Check the integrity of the wiring and the quality of the contacts in the connector
6. If necessary, replace the air temperature sensor
7. Clear error codes and test drive
8. Make sure the error does not reappear
