Symptoms

  • Unstable engine operation at idle
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Reduced engine power
  • Difficulty starting the engine
  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Uneven engine operation during transient conditions

Causes

  • Faulty intake air temperature sensor IAT2
  • Open or short circuit in sensor wiring
  • Oxidation or contamination of connector contacts
  • Engine control unit (ECU) malfunction
  • Wiring harness damage due to vibration or overheating
  • Oil or dirt on the sensor

How to Fix

  1. Read error codes using an OBD-II scanner
  2. Visually check the condition of the sensor and its connector
  3. Check the sensor supply voltage (usually 5V)
  4. Measure the sensor resistance and compare with standard values
  5. Check the integrity of the wiring from the sensor to the ECU
  6. Clean connector contacts from oxidation
  7. If necessary, replace the intake air temperature sensor
  8. Clear error codes and test drive
