Approx. repair cost
$33–111 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Misfire in cylinder(s) controlled by coil H
  • Unstable idle, body shaking
  • Reduced engine power
  • Increased fuel and oil consumption
  • Check Engine Light Flashing During Misfire

Causes

  • Break in the primary winding of the ignition coil H
  • Open circuit or short circuit in the primary circuit wiring
  • Oxidation or damage to the coil connector
  • Malfunction of the control transistor in the ECU
  • Mechanical damage to the coil (case crack, moisture ingress)

How to Fix

  1. Read codes, identify cylinder(s) associated with coil H
  2. Visually inspect coil H for cracks, traces of breakdown, moisture
  3. Check the coil connector - oxidation of contacts, reliability of fixation
  4. Measure the resistance of the primary winding (norm: 0.5–2 Ohm), if there is a break - infinity
  5. Swap coil H with a known good one to confirm
  6. Replace ignition coil H
