Cylinder 7 Pressure Sensor Circuit High

Severity
⚠️ Medium
Can you drive?
Do not drive — repair immediately
Approx. repair cost
$22–133 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Check Engine light on
  • Inability to read cylinder 7 sensor data with scanner
  • Unstable engine operation in certain modes
  • Reduced efficiency of cylinder 7
  • Increased fuel consumption

Causes

  • Shorting the sensor signal wire to the power wire (12V or 5V)
  • Internal sensor failure with short circuit to power supply
  • Damage to the wiring insulation in the harness
  • Incorrectly connected connector during a previous repair
  • Moisture entering the connector with the formation of conductive channels

How to Fix

  1. Disconnect the cylinder 7 pressure sensor connector
  2. Measure the voltage at the signal contact of the harness connector - with normal wiring, about 5V
  3. If the voltage is >5V, check the harness for short circuit with the power wire
  4. If the voltage is ~5V, replace the pressure sensor
  5. Check the connector for moisture and traces of short circuit.
  6. Reassemble the circuit, reset codes and perform a diagnostic test
