Symptoms

• Check Engine light on
• Blinds move slower or faster than normal
• Unstable positioning of blinds
• Increased noise from the blind drive
• Intermittent failures at certain temperatures

Causes

• Mechanical resistance to movement of blinds (dirt, rust of hinges)
• Worn brushes or actuator windings
• High contact resistance at circuit connectors
• Deviation of characteristics of the control unit (ECU)
• Degradation of wiring insulation with partial short circuit

How to Fix

1. Read codes and check data in real time: actuator current, travel time
2. Visually inspect the blinds and the drive mechanism for dirt or rust.
3. Lubricate the hinges of the blinds if there is mechanical resistance
4. Check the wiring resistance and the quality of contacts in the connectors
5. Compare the actuator current consumption with the manufacturer’s standard data
6. Replace the actuator if the electrical characteristics deviate
