Symptoms

• Check Engine light on
• Blinds do not respond to commands
• Possible fuse blown
• Zero voltage on control wire when command active
• Blinds locked in emergency position

Causes

• Control wire shorted to ground (contact with body)
• Frayed insulation of the harness at the points of attachment or passage
• Water entering the connector causing corrosion and shorting
• Internal short circuit of the actuator winding to the housing
• Damage to the connector with the contact pulled to ground

How to Fix

1. Read codes and record conditions of appearance (constant or intermittent)
2. Disconnect the actuator connector, measure the resistance of the control wire to ground (should be infinite)
3. Check the entire length of the harness - especially carefully at the points of fastening with clamps and passage through the panels
4. Conduct a visual inspection of the connector for corrosion and moisture.
5. Replace or re-insulate the damaged section of wiring
6. After repair, reset codes and perform verification test
