Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Can't switch driving mode
  • The car is locked in Normal or Sport mode
  • Incorrect engine response to pressing the gas pedal
  • Error message on the instrument panel display

Causes

  • Short circuit in the mode switch wiring to the power circuit
  • Oxidation or damage to the switch connector
  • Faulty driving mode switch A
  • Damage to the wiring harness in the steering column area
  • ECU malfunction (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Read all fault codes with a scanner and document them
  2. Check the integrity of the wiring and connector of mode switch A for breaks, short circuits and oxidation
  3. Measure the voltage on the signal wire of switch A - with the lock in the ON position, it should not exceed the reference specification value
  4. Check the resistance of the switch in all positions according to the manufacturer's data
  5. If a faulty switch is found, replace it
  6. Clean connectors, repair damaged wiring and recheck the system
