Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Spontaneous switching of driving modes
  • Inability to select the desired mode
  • Unstable operation of the transmission or suspension
  • Intermittent error messages on the dashboard

Causes

  • Worn or damaged contacts on mode switch A
  • Moisture or dirt getting into the switch connector
  • Unstable reference voltage in switch circuit
  • Damage to the insulation of the harness wires in the steering column area
  • ECU malfunction (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Read all fault codes, pay attention to associated codes P05D0–P05D7
  2. Inspect the connector and wiring of mode switch A for moisture, corrosion, and mechanical damage.
  3. Measure the voltage in each switch position and compare with the reference values according to the manufacturer’s documentation
  4. Check reference voltage and switch ground circuit
  5. If the readings are unstable, replace the driving mode switch A
  6. After repair, reset codes and perform a test drive to confirm the problem has been resolved.
