Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light
  • Engine overheating under high load or hot weather
  • The third fan does not turn on
  • Reduced cooling system efficiency at peak loads
  • Increase in engine temperature

Causes

  • Short circuit of the control wire of the third fan to ground
  • Third fan relay fault
  • Broken or damaged wiring
  • Third fan motor malfunction
  • Internal ECU fault

How to Fix

  1. Read OBD-II codes and determine fan configuration
  2. Measure the voltage in the third fan control circuit
  3. Check the third fan relay
  4. Check fan motor (direct power supply)
  5. Check wiring for shorts and breaks
  6. If the circuit is working properly - ECU diagnostics
