Sensor Reference Voltage B Circuit Range/Performance
Severity
⚠️ MediumCan you drive?
Limited driving only, diagnose soon
Approx. repair cost
$6–56 (est.)
Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Is On
- Intermittent failures in the operation of several sensors
- Unstable engine speed
- Short-term power failures
- Intermittent errors of ABS, transmission or climate control (when connected to group B)
Causes
- Oxidation or poor contact in the group B sensor connector
- Unstable sensor with changing internal resistance
- Damage to the insulation of the wire of the 5V line of group B
- Moisture in the wiring harness
- Microdefect in the ECU (rare)
How to Fix
- Read all codes and determine which sensors are included in group B according to the car diagram
- Inspect the connectors of group B sensors, clean from oxidation
- Perform a wiggle test on the harness with the engine running, observing the voltage.
- Measure the reference voltage with an oscilloscope over time
- Replace the sensor or restore the wiring if a faulty element is identified
- Reset codes, perform extended test drive
