Severity
⚠️ Medium
Can you drive?
Limited driving only, diagnose soon
Approx. repair cost
$6–56 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Intermittent failures in the operation of several sensors
  • Unstable engine speed
  • Short-term power failures
  • Intermittent errors of ABS, transmission or climate control (when connected to group B)

Causes

  • Oxidation or poor contact in the group B sensor connector
  • Unstable sensor with changing internal resistance
  • Damage to the insulation of the wire of the 5V line of group B
  • Moisture in the wiring harness
  • Microdefect in the ECU (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Read all codes and determine which sensors are included in group B according to the car diagram
  2. Inspect the connectors of group B sensors, clean from oxidation
  3. Perform a wiggle test on the harness with the engine running, observing the voltage.
  4. Measure the reference voltage with an oscilloscope over time
  5. Replace the sensor or restore the wiring if a faulty element is identified
  6. Reset codes, perform extended test drive
