Approx. repair cost
$6–56 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Periodic unstable engine operation
  • Unstable sensor readings during warm-up or vibration
  • Intermittent dips when accelerating
  • Spontaneous appearance and disappearance of sensor errors

Causes

  • Poor or intermittent contact at Group D sensor connector
  • Incipient insulation breakdown of the reference line wire
  • Unstable sensor with changing internal resistance
  • Moisture in Group D wiring harness
  • ECU reference voltage regulator instability

How to Fix

  1. Read error codes, identify sensors of group D according to the diagram
  2. Inspect the connectors of group D sensors, clean from oxidation and moisture
  3. Perform a wiggle test on the harness with the engine running.
  4. Measure the reference voltage with an oscilloscope under load - identify instability
  5. Replace a faulty sensor or eliminate a wiring defect
  6. Reset codes, perform a long test drive in various conditions
