Symptoms

  • Difficulty cold starting the engine
  • White smoke from the exhaust pipe when starting
  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Misfire at idle

Causes

  • Faulty glow plug cylinder 8
  • Open or short circuit in the glow plug circuit
  • Malfunction of the glow plug control module
  • Oxidation or poor contact in the circuit connector
  • Reduced system supply voltage

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes and record the conditions for their occurrence
  2. Visually inspect the wiring and glow plug connector of cylinder 8 for damage
  3. Measure the resistance of the glow plug (standard 0.5–2 Ohm); in case of deviation - replace
  4. Check the supply voltage and integrity of the spark plug control circuit
  5. If the spark plug and wiring are in good condition, check the glow plug control module
  6. Reset error codes and take a test drive to confirm the problem has been resolved
