Causes

  • Faulty exhaust valve control solenoid
  • Open or short circuit in solenoid wiring
  • Oxidized or damaged connectors
  • Low voltage in the on-board network
  • Engine control unit (ECU) malfunction
  • Bad ground in solenoid circuit
  • Corrosion of solenoid connector contacts

How to Fix

  1. Connect a diagnostic scanner and read all error codes
  2. Check the vehicle's on-board voltage
  3. Visually inspect the solenoid wiring for damage.
  4. Check the resistance of the exhaust valve control solenoid
  5. Measure the voltage at the solenoid connector with the engine running.
  6. Check the integrity of the wiring from the ECU to the solenoid
  7. Clean the contacts of the solenoid connector from oxidation
  8. If necessary, replace the faulty solenoid
  9. Check the quality of the mass connection
  10. Clear error codes and test drive
