Symptoms

Causes

  • Solenoid wiring short to power

  • Moisture getting into electrical connections

How to Fix

  1. Connect the diagnostic scanner and read the error codes
  2. Check the supply voltage and ground at the solenoid connector
  3. Measure the resistance of the exhaust valve solenoid
  4. Inspect wiring for damage and corrosion
  5. Check the quality of contacts in the connectors
  6. If necessary, replace the faulty solenoid
  7. Repair damaged wiring
  8. Clean contacts from corrosion and treat with a protective compound
  9. Clear error codes and test drive
  10. Recheck the system with a diagnostic scanner
