Intake Air Temperature Sensor 3 Circuit Low Bank 2
Severity
✅ LowCan you drive?
Yes, but get it checked soon
Approx. repair cost
$11–56 (est.)
Symptoms
- Check Engine light on dashboard
- Minor change in the composition of the air-fuel mixture
- Possible increased fuel consumption on a cold engine
- The scanner shows an unrealistic intake air temperature (extremely low or error)
- The ECU uses a reserve air temperature value
Causes
- Broken signal wire or ground wire of IAT sensor 3 bank 2
- Oxidation or disconnection of the sensor connector
- IAT sensor failure (internal thermistor open)
- Moisture getting into the sensor connector
- Damage to the harness wiring in the intake tract
How to Fix
- Read codes and view real-time data on intake air temperature
- Find the location of IAT sensor 3 bank 2 using the electrical diagram of a specific engine
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring for damage or oxidation.
- Measure the resistance of the sensor (at 20°C usually 2–3 kOhm) and compare with the norm
- Measure the reference voltage at the sensor connector (standard 5V) with the ignition on
- If the sensor is faulty or broken, replace the IAT sensor or restore the wiring
