P00EF

Intake Air Temperature Sensor 3 Circuit Low Bank 2

Severity
Low
Can you drive?
Yes, but get it checked soon
Approx. repair cost
$11–56 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Check Engine light on dashboard
  • Minor change in the composition of the air-fuel mixture
  • Possible increased fuel consumption on a cold engine
  • The scanner shows an unrealistic intake air temperature (extremely low or error)
  • The ECU uses a reserve air temperature value

Causes

  • Broken signal wire or ground wire of IAT sensor 3 bank 2
  • Oxidation or disconnection of the sensor connector
  • IAT sensor failure (internal thermistor open)
  • Moisture getting into the sensor connector
  • Damage to the harness wiring in the intake tract

How to Fix

  1. Read codes and view real-time data on intake air temperature
  2. Find the location of IAT sensor 3 bank 2 using the electrical diagram of a specific engine
  3. Inspect the sensor connector and wiring for damage or oxidation.
  4. Measure the resistance of the sensor (at 20°C usually 2–3 kOhm) and compare with the norm
  5. Measure the reference voltage at the sensor connector (standard 5V) with the ignition on
  6. If the sensor is faulty or broken, replace the IAT sensor or restore the wiring
