- Lack of data for cylinder 8 when diagnosing with a scanner
- Slight engine vibration in certain modes
- Slight reduction in power
- Possible deterioration in fuel consumption
Causes
- Damage to the wiring or connector of the cylinder 8 sensor (thermal, mechanical)
- Internal pressure sensor failure
- Open or short circuit in the rear engine wiring harness
- Corrosion of connector contacts
- ECU malfunction (extremely rare)
How to Fix
- Check the cylinder 8 sensor connector - it is usually difficult to access, you may need to remove components to gain access
- Inspect the wiring harness at the rear of the engine for signs of overheating or damage from hot exhaust parts.
- Perform electrical tests on the circuit (power, ground, signal)
- Make sure there are no codes for cylinder 7 - if both are present, there is likely general damage to the harness.
- Replace the sensor or restore the damaged wiring section
- Reset codes and take a test drive
