Active Grille Air Shutter A Supply Voltage Circuit/Open

Symptoms

  • Check Engine light is on
  • Active blinds do not function completely
  • Blinds are fixed in one position
  • Possibly associated P05A7 or P05A8 codes
  • Reduced efficiency of engine thermal management

Causes

  • Blown blinds power fuse
  • Break in the power wire (+12 V) of the blinds actuator
  • Malfunction of the relay that switches the power supply to the blinds
  • Damage to the power connector
  • Broken contact in the fuse box

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes, determine the presence of associated power codes
  2. Locate and check the power supply fuse for active blinds in the fuse box (see diagram)
  3. Measure the supply voltage at the blinds actuator connector with the ignition on
  4. Check the blinds power relay: measure the voltage of the control winding and contact group
  5. Ring the power wire from the fuse box to the actuator connector
  6. Restore the power circuit: replace the fuse, relay or wire
  7. Reset codes and check normal operation of the system
