Active Grille Air Shutter A Supply Voltage Circuit Low

Severity
Low
Can you drive?
Do not drive — repair immediately
Approx. repair cost
$6–89 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Check Engine light is on
  • Blinds are unstable or do not work
  • Possible signs of a weak battery or charging problems
  • Other electrical systems may be unstable
  • Blinds locked in emergency position

Causes

  • Weak or dead battery
  • Faulty generator not providing normal voltage
  • Oxidation in the power supply circuit of the blinds (connectors, fuse terminals)
  • Poor ground connection between the actuator and the body
  • High contact resistance in the fuse box

How to Fix

  1. Measure the voltage of the on-board network with the engine running - it should be 13.5–14.5 V
  2. Check battery condition and load test
  3. Measure the voltage directly at the blind actuator connector with the engine running.
  4. Check the voltage drop at the fuse and at the terminal connections of the blinds power supply circuit
  5. Check the quality of the “mass” connection between the actuator and the body
  6. Clean and restore all connectors in the blinds power circuit
  7. Reset codes and check for normal supply voltage while the system is running
