Symptoms

  • Check Engine light is on
  • Blinds do not respond to control commands
  • The blinds are fixed in one position regardless of driving conditions
  • Reduced fuel efficiency and worse aerodynamics
  • Possible related errors in the blind position sensor

Causes

  • Broken blind actuator control wire
  • Destruction or oxidation of the actuator connector
  • Complete failure of the blinds actuator (electric motor)
  • Damage to the wiring in the ECU - actuator section
  • Malfunction in the ECU output circuit (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes and check for related shutter or power codes
  2. Inspect the blind actuator connector for oxidation, damage, or torn contacts.
  3. Measure the supply voltage at the actuator connector with the ignition on
  4. Check the integrity of the control wires between the ECU and the actuator
  5. Using the scanner, issue an open/close command and check for the presence of load current in the actuator circuit
  6. Replace the actuator if it is confirmed to be faulty
  7. Reset codes and check system operation
