Symptoms

• Check Engine light is on
• Unstable or inaccurate operation of the grille blinds
• Blinds work, but with delay or jerks
• Code appears intermittently (may be intermittent)
• Possible vibration or extraneous sounds when the blind drive is operating

Causes

• Increased resistance in the actuator control circuit (oxidation of contacts, poor connections)
• Unstable power supply voltage to the blinds actuator
• Beginning of actuator failure (increased internal motor resistance)
• Wiring insulation failure with partial short circuit
• Malfunction in the feedback circuit from the actuator to the computer

How to Fix

1. Read error codes and view live data of blind control circuit parameters
2. Measure the actuator supply voltage with the ignition on and the actuator running.
3. Check the resistance of the control circuit: from the computer to the actuator and back
4. Inspect and, if necessary, clean all connectors in the blinds control circuit
5. Measure the current consumption of the actuator during operation - compare with the specification
6. If the actuator parameters deviate from the norm, replace the actuator or blinds unit
7. Reset codes and perform a system function test
