Symptoms

• Check Engine light is on
• Blinds do not open or close completely
• Decreased fuel efficiency
• Slow engine warm-up in cold weather
• Possible errors in related cooling systems

Causes

• Contamination or icing of the radiator grille shutters, limiting travel
• Wear or damage to the blind drive mechanism
• Incorrect calibration or position sensor failure
• Entry of a foreign object blocking the movement of the plates
• Malfunction of the actuator (electric drive) of the blinds

How to Fix

1. Read all error codes and check the live parameter data of the blind position sensor
2. Inspect the grille louvers for dirt, ice, foreign objects or damage.
3. Clean the blinds and check the free movement of the slats manually
4. Check the operation of the blinds drive using a diagnostic scanner (forced control)
5. Check the position sensor signal when the blinds are fully opened and closed
6. If a mechanical fault is detected, replace the blind unit or drive
7. Reset codes and test drive to check
