Symptoms

  • Check Engine light is on
  • Blinds are not controlled automatically, fixed in one position
  • Decreased fuel efficiency on the highway
  • Slow engine warm-up in cold weather
  • Possible increase in coolant temperature when the shutters are closed

Causes

  • Broken signal wire of the blind position sensor
  • Signal wire short circuit to ground
  • Break in the sensor power wire (reference voltage +5 V)
  • Faulty position sensor (no output signal)
  • Oxidation or destruction of the sensor connector

How to Fix

  1. Read all error codes with scanner
  2. Inspect the connector and wiring of the blind position sensor
  3. Check the presence of reference voltage (+5 V) at the sensor connector with the ignition on
  4. Measure the signal voltage of the sensor and check the integrity of the signal wire
  5. Check the ground wire of the sensor for a break and the reliability of the connection to the body
  6. If there is no signal and the wiring is in good condition, replace the position sensor
  7. Reset error codes and check system operation
