Symptoms
- Check Engine light is on
- Blinds are not controlled automatically, fixed in one position
- Decreased fuel efficiency on the highway
- Slow engine warm-up in cold weather
- Possible increase in coolant temperature when the shutters are closed
Causes
- Broken signal wire of the blind position sensor
- Signal wire short circuit to ground
- Break in the sensor power wire (reference voltage +5 V)
- Faulty position sensor (no output signal)
- Oxidation or destruction of the sensor connector
How to Fix
- Read all error codes with scanner
- Inspect the connector and wiring of the blind position sensor
- Check the presence of reference voltage (+5 V) at the sensor connector with the ignition on
- Measure the signal voltage of the sensor and check the integrity of the signal wire
- Check the ground wire of the sensor for a break and the reliability of the connection to the body
- If there is no signal and the wiring is in good condition, replace the position sensor
- Reset error codes and check system operation
