Approx. repair cost
$22–167 (est.)
Symptoms
- Check Engine light is on
- Blinds are fixed in one position (usually open)
- Slight decrease in fuel efficiency
- Slow engine warm-up in winter
- Possible engine control errors due to changes in thermal conditions
Causes
- Short circuit of the position sensor signal wire to power (+5 V or +12 V)
- Internal sensor malfunction (produces maximum voltage)
- Damage to wiring insulation with a short to adjacent circuits
- Oxidation of the connector leading to signal distortion
- Faulty blind control module
How to Fix
- Read all error codes, pay attention to the accompanying blinds codes
- Inspect the wiring and connector of the blind position sensor for insulation damage
- Measure the voltage of the sensor signal wire with the ignition on
- Check that the signal wire is not shorted to the power wires (+5 V, +12 V)
- Disconnect the sensor and check the voltage at the ECU connector - if it is high, there is a fault in the wiring
- Replace the position sensor or blind module if a sensor fault is confirmed
- Reset codes and check system operation
