Symptoms

• Check Engine light is on
• Extended engine warm-up time in cold weather
• Slight decrease in fuel efficiency on the highway
• The blinds appear to remain open during cold starts.
• Possible error codes related to engine temperature conditions

Causes

• Mechanical damage to the blinds or hinges, preventing closure
• Blind actuator failure (motor only works in one direction)
• Deformation of the blind body, blocking the movement of the plates
• Foreign object preventing the blinds from closing
• Malfunction in the actuator control circuit (open, short)

How to Fix

1. Read error codes with a scanner and check for related cooling system codes
2. Visually inspect the blinds - make sure there are no deformations or foreign objects
3. Try to manually close the blinds - evaluate the mechanical resistance
4. Using the diagnostic scanner, give a command to close the blinds and observe the reaction
5. Check the power supply and control circuit of the blinds actuator
6. Replace the actuator or blind unit if a malfunction is detected
7. Reset error codes and test operation over several startup cycles
