Symptoms

• Difficult cold starting of diesel engine
• Smoke when starting and warming up
• Unstable engine operation during warm-up mode
• The warning light on the instrument panel is on
• Increased fuel consumption

Causes

• Failure of the glow plug of cylinder 10
• Damage to the spark plug wiring or connector
• Malfunction of the glow plug control module
• Interturn short circuit in the spark plug winding
• Unstable power supply to the vehicle's on-board network

How to Fix

1. Read error codes using a scan tool
2. Locate the glow plug for cylinder 10 and inspect its wiring
3. Measure the resistance of the spark plug - if the value is outside the range of 0.5–2 Ohms, replace the spark plug
4. Check the integrity of the control circuit and the voltage at the connector
5. Check the spark plug control module for internal errors
6. After repair, reset errors and make sure the system is working correctly
