Symptoms
- Difficult cold starting of diesel engine
- Smoke when starting and warming up
- Unstable engine operation during warm-up mode
- The warning light on the instrument panel is on
- Increased fuel consumption
Causes
- Failure of the glow plug of cylinder 10
- Damage to the spark plug wiring or connector
- Malfunction of the glow plug control module
- Interturn short circuit in the spark plug winding
- Unstable power supply to the vehicle's on-board network
How to Fix
- Read error codes using a scan tool
- Locate the glow plug for cylinder 10 and inspect its wiring
- Measure the resistance of the spark plug - if the value is outside the range of 0.5–2 Ohms, replace the spark plug
- Check the integrity of the control circuit and the voltage at the connector
- Check the spark plug control module for internal errors
- After repair, reset errors and make sure the system is working correctly
