Symptoms
- Difficulty starting the engine at low temperatures
- Increased smoking when warming up
- Uneven engine operation
- Malfunction indicator (Check Engine) on the instrument panel
- Reduced engine power during warm-up mode
Causes
- Faulty glow plug cylinder 11
- Damage or breakage of the control circuit conductor
- Corrosion of connector contacts
- Glow plug control module failure
- Unstable on-board voltage
How to Fix
- Carry out a full diagnostic of the glow plug system using a scanner
- Locate the glow plug of cylinder 11 and provide access to it
- Check the spark plug resistance (normal 0.5–2 ohms) and replace if necessary
- Check the wiring and connector for breaks, short circuits and corrosion
- Test the supply voltage of the spark plug control module
- Reset the error and check operation after repair
