Symptoms

  • Difficulty starting the engine at low temperatures
  • Increased smoking when warming up
  • Uneven engine operation
  • Malfunction indicator (Check Engine) on the instrument panel
  • Reduced engine power during warm-up mode

Causes

  • Faulty glow plug cylinder 11
  • Damage or breakage of the control circuit conductor
  • Corrosion of connector contacts
  • Glow plug control module failure
  • Unstable on-board voltage

How to Fix

  1. Carry out a full diagnostic of the glow plug system using a scanner
  2. Locate the glow plug of cylinder 11 and provide access to it
  3. Check the spark plug resistance (normal 0.5–2 ohms) and replace if necessary
  4. Check the wiring and connector for breaks, short circuits and corrosion
  5. Test the supply voltage of the spark plug control module
  6. Reset the error and check operation after repair
