Symptoms

• Check Engine light on
• Delay or refusal to restart the engine by the start-stop system

• The start-stop system is switched off automatically

Causes

• Battery wear (starter or auxiliary AGM)
• Worn or faulty starter (with frequent cycles)
• Fuel injection system malfunction
• Malfunction of sensors (crankshaft, oil pressure)
• Software error in the start-stop system control algorithm

How to Fix

1. Check the condition of the battery with a load test (with frequent start-stop cycles, the AGM battery wears out faster)
2. Read extended diagnostic data if restart fails
3. Check the operation of the starter and the current consumption when starting
4. Check fuel pressure and injection system operation
5. Make sure the crankshaft position sensor is working properly
6. Update the ECU firmware if official updates are available
