Symptoms

• Check Engine light comes on, sometimes goes out on its own
• Unpredictable position of the grille blinds
• Intermittent decrease in fuel efficiency
• The error appears only under certain conditions (frost, heat, vibration)
• Difficulty in reproducing a fault during diagnostics

Causes

• Damaged wiring with periodic breaks (insulation cracks)
• Oxidized or unreliable sensor connector
• Weak crimp of the terminal in the connector
• Degradation of the resistive element of the position sensor
• Vibration short in wiring harness

How to Fix

1. Count errors and check data on the number of operations
2. Inspect the sensor wiring harness along its entire length for abrasions and cracks.
3. Push/pull the connector while the engine is running - check if the error is reproduced
4. Clean and treat the connector contacts with a special compound
5. Check the connector terminals for tightness
6. If necessary, replace the sensor or repair the wiring harness
7. Carry out a long test drive to confirm the fix
