  • Reduced engine performance in a certain speed range
  • Possible permanently activated valve state
  • Deterioration in efficiency

Causes

  • Short circuit of the control wire to ground (housing)
  • Internal short circuit of the valve solenoid winding to the body
  • Damage to wire insulation in the harness
  • Moisture or contamination in the solenoid connector
  • Malfunction of the ECU output stage (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Check the valve solenoid resistance with a multimeter (normal: 10-30 ohms)
  2. Check the control wire for a short to ground with the solenoid connector disconnected
  3. Inspect the solenoid connector for moisture and contamination.
  4. Inspect the wiring harness for insulation damage
  5. If the windings are short-circuited, replace the IMTV valve solenoid
  6. If the wires are short-circuited, restore the insulation or replace the wiring
